Abstract

In this talk I explore the record of tectonic and erosional processes recorded in sediments sampled from modern rivers in the Himalaya of Bhutan. Dating of the sampled sediments produces distributions of ages that are non-unique and challenging to link to source regions in the upstream landscape. Using a combination of forward models to predict ages, permutations of key model parameters, and random forest classification, I attempt to identify key processes responsible for producing the observed age distributions.
